Law enforcement is on the hunt for an unknown suspect following a shooting incident in Southeast Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department's Seventh District has put out a call for assistance as they work to track down the individual responsible for discharging a firearm on Wednesday morning.

The incident, which took place on the 3700 block of 4th Street, Southeast, prompted officers to the scene after reports of gunshots at around 9:14 a.m. Although officers arrived and confirmed the shooting had occurred, they found neither victims nor the perpetrator at the scene. The search for the suspect has thus been escalated, with the MPD seeking any helpful input from the community, according to a statement released by the police department.

As the investigation unfolds, the MPD has not provided any description of the suspect.
