A pedestrian jaywalking across 30th Street in North Park met with a grisly accident late last night. According to the San Diego Police Department's Watch Commander's Log, a 32-year-old man was hit by a car while crossing University Avenue against the red light. The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, including an open fracture to his right tibia/fibula. SDPD reports indicate that the injuries are serious but not life-threatening.

The 32-year-old male driver was behind the wheel of a 2018 Toyota Camry and had the green light when he struck the pedestrian. In a statement obtained by the San Diego Police Department, alcohol was not a factor in the accident. The Traffic Division has taken over the ongoing investigation. The collision occurred on May 4, around 10:01 PM, shaking up the usually quiet North Park neighborhood.
