San Bernardino Sheriff's Sting 'Operation Consequences' Nets Drugs, Firearms, and Suspects in Gang CrackdownSource: San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department

In a weeklong sting known as Operation Consequences, the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department came down hard on gang-related activities, seizing drugs, firearms, and rounding up several suspects. According to an official statement, between April 27 and May 3, law enforcers targeted areas in Upland, San Bernardino, Pinon Hills, and Bloomington known for high crime rates.

This no-nonsense crackdown led to seven felony arrests amidst a series of nine search warrants executed. An announcement by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department revealed that among items confiscated were nearly a pound of illegal narcotics and nine firearms, three of which were untraceable ghost guns. The Sheriff's Department received a boost through funds authorized by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors dedicated to suppressing the wave of crime that has been affecting the local communities.

According to the report, the operation encompassed collaboration between various agencies, including the California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Probation, and Department of Homeland Security Investigations. The strategy: A concerted effort to tackle quality-of-life issues through a thorough sweep of the affected neighborhoods.

The goal of Operation Consequences stretches beyond immediate arrests. The operation is set to continue over the coming months with a focus on curtailing violent crime, disrupting criminal street gangs, and apprehending those involved in the illegal manufacture and distribution of firearms. Funding provided by the County Board of Supervisors is aimed at enhancing the Sheriff Department's capabilities in these crime-plagued areas. "Operation Consequences will focus on conducting targeted crime suppression operations in the High Desert and the Sheriff’s jurisdiction surrounding the city of San Bernardino," the Sheriff's Department stated in their Operation Consequences summary.

With the department’s Gangs/Narcotics Division at the helm, supported by the patrol stations and specialized units, Sheriff-Coroner Shannon D. Dicus has positioned his department as a bulwark against the tide of criminal activities threatening the peace in San Bernardino County.
