Sterling Heights police are on the lookout for a driver who reportedly opened fire during a road rage confrontation in a recent incident, as detailed by The Detroit News. Authorities are urging the public to step forward with any information that might lead to the apprehension of the suspect believed to be the man behind the wheel of a white SUV.

According to reports, the altercation took place around 1:30 a.m. on April 28 on eastbound Metropolitan Parkway west of Van Dyke. A blue Hyundai, engaged in an argument with the driver at a red light, soon became the target of gunfire. Gunfire erupted when the driver of the white SUV, engaged in the aforementioned dispute, drew a handgun and fired a shot, striking a male passenger in the Hyundai in the leg.

Following the incident, the victim was hastily taken to a hospital by the Hyundai's driver, where he received treatment and was subsequently released, per FOX 2 Detroit. Witnesses described the driver of the SUV as a Black male, who after committing the act, utilized a turnaround to head west on Metropolitan Parkway, and was last seen going north on Van Dyke Avenue.

The Sterling Heights Police Department hasn't yet identified the suspect's whereabouts after he fled north on Van Dyke, as stated by Macomb Daily. Lt. Mario Bastianelli relayed in a news release, "In the midst of the argument, the driver of the white SUV pulled out a handgun and shot one round at the occupants in the Hyundai." The anxiety of the public has been heightened by the suspect still being at large.
