Three Suspects, Including Teen Girls, Arrested After Violent Minneapolis Carjacking

Minneapolis streets saw a bout of violence Thursday night as a woman fell victim to a savage carjack at the hands of three suspects, now in police custody. According to a post by the Minneapolis Police Department, the trio accosted the business owner, unleashed a flurry of punches and kicks, and made off with her vehicle, only to be apprehended following a short chase.

The adult and two teens implicated in the incident represent a chronic challenge for law enforcement; they collectively boast extensive records including, but not limited to, aggravated robbery, auto theft, and stolen property. The Police succeeded in detaining the suspects after a brief pursuit which culminated near the 4500 block of Clinton Avenue. An 18-year-old woman is now behind bars at the Hennepin County Jail, while a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old girl are being held at the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center.

MPD's relentless tracking of street crime yielded another result with the arrests of these repeat offenders. The 16-year-old faces additional charges for fleeing in the motor vehicle. Reports suggest over 20 incidents in the past four years are tied to at least one of the individuals now facing justice for this latest offense.

In a tough-talking statement, Chief O'Hara highlighted the department's determination, "This is another example of MPD officers remaining vigilant and doing everything they can to disrupt the violent behavior of those who repeatedly terrorize neighborhoods with assaults and robberies. We will continue to arrest those who commit these crimes and seek accountability no matter the age of the offender or the number of times they’ve been arrested in the past," sourced from the Minneapolis Police Department's social media dispatch.
