Dallas Cowboys Coach Greg Ellis Champions Mental Health with Wellness Walk at Singing HillsSource: City of Dallas, Texas

Dallas Cowboys Coach Greg Ellis is stepping off the field and into the community for a cause that's more than physical. Ellis will host the Getting My Help Mental Wellness Walk on Saturday, May 4, at Singing Hills Recreation Center, hoping to shine a light on mental health issues. As part of his 501-C3 charitable foundation, Ellis is all set to change the narratives surrounding mental wellness, "one step at a time."

Participants can choose to quickly run or leisurely walk the 5K & 1-mile routes, with registration kicking off at 8 a.m. and interactive sessions following from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. It's not just about breaking a sweat; the event will also feature a fair peppered with informative workshops, yoga, dance, and cooking demonstrations. To make sure attendees get to move and groove, entertainment will be provided by local radio stations 97.9 The Beat & Majic 94.5, according to the City of Dallas.

The day is about more than exercise, it's a full-blown affair. Local influencer and media maven Lady Jade will be there to amplify the message, hosting a Mental Wellness Walk and Fair that aims to serve up resources alongside fitness routines. None of this would be possible without the support of the Dallas Park and Recreation Department, which oversees a roster of facilities including more than 400 city parks and 43 recreation centers.

For those interested in joining the cause, event registration is available on Eventbrite.com. The Getting My Help Foundation emphasizes its unique approach by crafting productions – films, commercials, and documentaries that aim to do more than entertain; they aspire to inspire empathy, spark dialogue, and unite diverse voices in the conversation about mental wellness.

The city is standing behind Ellis’ effort, encouraging residents to participate in a variety of year-round program activities. Engaging the community is at the heart of what Dallas Parks aims to do, and events like these embody their commitment to enriching the lives of Dallas denizens both through physical spaces and impactful programming.
