Despite recent departures, such as the Westfield San Francisco Centre mall, Nordstorm department store, and others, some retail real estate experts remain optimistic about opportunities in San Francisco's market. As many storefronts lie empty, retail property specialists see potential for new foreign and domestic brands to enter the market. Kazuko Morgan from Cushman & Wakefield claims we are currently in a "buyers' market" and notes the quality of available real estate in San Francisco. Others are more tentative, predicting it may be a year before a significant portion of vacant properties find tenants.
