San Antonio Sees Triple Life Sentences in a Day for Separate Crimes in Bexar CountySource: Google Street View

A trifecta of life sentences was delivered in a single day at the Bexar County Courthouse, a standby of justice, raising eyebrows across San Antonio. Fabian A. Rodriguez, Devonte Campbell, and Jose Rocha were each handed down life sentences for their separate heinous crimes.

According to FOX San Antonio, Bexar County Criminal District Attorney Joe Gonzales noted “Our prosecutors and staff work hard to uphold justice on behalf of Bexar County residents and you’re seeing the results. I am proud to work with the dedicated women and men in the District Attorney’s Office. Three criminals are now off our streets and behind bars for a very long time, Thanks to all of our employees who helped bring these cases to trial – and thanks also to the officers and investigators whose efforts also helped make these verdicts possible.”

One of those offenders, Rodriguez, 33, fatally stabbed his mother at an Airbnb off Clipper Port, viciously ending her life with 36 thrusts of the blade. The landlord, alerted by concerned Airbnb guests to screams in the night, discovered Rodriguez's mother's body the following morning drenched in blood; surveillance footage later depicted Rodriguez trying to dispose of incriminating evidence.

In a case that turned a child custody exchange into a macabre crime scene, Campbell, 36, received his life sentence after being convicted of the murder of Parnell Keith Curtis, as detailed by KSAT. After an altercation outside a West Side home, Campbell pulled a gun and shot Curtis in the chest, running off and leaving behind a scene that told of passions turned perilous and the fatal interjection of a firearm into a dispute that should have been confined to words.

Lastly, Jose Rocha, whose crime dates back to 2015, was also sentenced to spend his remaining days in the confines of a prison cell for the murder of Aaron Riedner. The conflict-turned-homicide transpired after both men disembarked a VIA bus, proving once again the volatility of human interaction left unchecked by reason.
