Beware, book lovers – there's a new scam in town, and it's targeting your wallet, not your library card. Scammers across the nation are falsely posing as public libraries to make unauthorized charges on credit cards, and the Anaheim Public Library is the latest to issue a warning.

They clarified, "You can rest assured these fraudulent charges are not from Anaheim Public Library, our branches, or the city of Anaheim," as per the City of Anaheim. These nefarious activities have yet to victimize local patrons, but the scam has reached other states, where unsuspecting individuals have spotted bogus charges.

Authorities, including the Federal Trade Commission and Anaheim Police, have been alerted to the scam, as institutions work tirelessly to maintain a secure environment for their communities.
