Law enforcement officials are ramping up efforts to locate a 12-year-old girl, Leia Perez, who vanished late Monday night from San Antonio’s Northwest Side. The Bexar County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that Perez was last observed leaving her residence off High Plains Drive near Culebra Road around 8:30 p.m.
Deputies have released a description of the missing child: Perez stands about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighs roughly 150 pounds, and is recognized by her brown hair and eyes. According to FOX San Antonio, she was last seen sporting checkered pajama pants and a grey Nike hoodie.
The search currently focuses on the possibility that Leia may have traveled on foot with a female acquaintance. Officials believe that she could be in the vicinity of the Alamo Ranch area or nearby Harlan High School. Foul play has not been ruled out, and as hours tick by, the urgency to find Leia intensifies.
Community members with any knowledge of Leia’s whereabouts are urged to come forward. The Sheriff's Office is diligently working the case and has implored the public for assistance. "If you have any information on her whereabouts, call the Bexar County Sheriff's Office Missing Persons Unit at (210) 335-6000," they stated in an announcement.
